Cobra Launch Their New S3 Range

Cobra Golf announces the introduction of the Cobra S3 Driver and Cobra S3 Max Driver, featuring revolutionary E9 Face Technology. This patent-pending new technology expands Cobra’s Sweet Zone by 30 percent, taking into account all areas where golfers hit the ball on the clubface, to make it the smartest clubface in the market.

E9 Face Technology™
Most clubfaces are designed with a circular sweet spot around the center of the face, the assumption being that the center of the club is where golfers hit the ball on every shot. Cobra tested golfers hitting more than 25,000 shots and discovered something different. They hit shots across the face in a canted, elliptical pattern that wasn’t always in the center. In fact, 99% of shots hit by golfers were in this elliptical pattern from the low heel to the high toe. So we redesigned the clubface to take advantage of this phenomenon – resulting in Cobra’s new E9 Face Technology with a 30% larger Sweet Zone.

“We looked at tens of thousands of hits across the driver clubface and saw a distinct ball impact pattern from the low heel to high toe,” says Tom Preece, Vice President of Research and Development for Cobra Golf. “E9 Face Technology maximizes distance and accuracy from any point on the clubface, especially where golfers hit most often.”
The Cobra S3 Driver also features Cobra’s popular Adjustable Flight Technology (AFT), which allows golfers to easily dial in their optimal ball flight for maximum distance and accuracy.

The Cobra S3 Driver (MSRP $375) is available in lofts of 8.5°, 9.5°, 10.5° and 11.5° in men’s right-handed, and 9.5° and 10.5° in men’s left-handed, with a Fujikura Blur TX 005 or TX 006 shaft, in choice of X (65g), S (65g), R (65g) or Lite (55g) flexes, as well as with a Cobra/Golf Pride grip. A women’s version is also offered in a 13.5° loft and Fujikura Blur TX 004 shaft in Women’s (49g) flex.

COBRA S3 MAX DRIVER
The Cobra S3 Max Driver also has a 6-4 titanium club head and clubface, replete with E9 Face Technology. It differs from the Cobra S3 Driver in that its offset design helps golfers straighten out slices and fades, thus maximizing forgiveness and distance. Most golfers will find they can easily achieve draw bias ball flight and high launch with the Cobra S3 Max Driver. And the unique crown design uses visual cues to help golfers aim and keep the club on the desired swing path.

A women’s version is also offered in a 15° loft and Fujikura Blur TX 004 shaft in Women’s (49g) flex.

New Cobra S3 (SRP R2599) and Cobra S3 Max Drivers will be available at select golf retailers nationwide, from 18 February 2011. The Cobra S3 Drivers join Cobra’s award-winning ZL Driver (SRP R2999) and the Limited Edition white ZL Driver in Cobra’s driver line-up.

Cobra S3 Irons
E9 Face Technology™ and multi-material design combine to optimize all-around performance in each individual iron.

Cobra Golf announces the introduction of the Cobra S3 irons, featuring all-new E9 Face Technology™ which creates a progressive Sweet Zone™ designed around impact patterns of typical golfers. The progressive Sweet Zone™ is achieved by combining a thin, hot face design with multi-material technology and a stepped crescent sole – which collectively optimizes all-round performance in each individual iron.

Progressive Cavity Design
• The new cavity design changes the Sweet Zone™ from elliptical in the long irons to oval in the mid-irons and to circular in the short irons. Cobra engineers also optimized the face thickness of each individual iron, to provide the kind of distance, feel, forgiveness and accuracy that golfers are looking for from each of their irons.

        Hyper Steel Face
• Cobra utilized ultra high strength steel in the long and mid-irons, which allowed engineers to thin out the face by 20% and increase face flex for higher ball speed. The weight savings allowed weight to be moved for more forgiveness.

COBRA S3® IRONS
While employing the all-new E9 Face Technology™, the Cobra S3 Iron also utilizes two materials in the club head. The long and mid-irons are made of 17-4 hyper steel, a high-strength steel alloy composition that allows for a thinner, hotter clubface for increased COR and ball speed; while the short irons are made of 17-4 stainless steel for more control.
